Health and safety

Start of main content

Gamesa views workplace health and safety as a top priority. In this context, Security is one of Gamesa's Corporate Responsibility Principles.

This commitment is expressed in the global health and safety policy and is classified as a strategic instrument involving workers and labour representatives that contributes to the company's sustainability with the goal of zero accidents.

To attain this objective, the company has workplace safety plans, it fosters a culture of health and safety, it promotes improvements in physical conditions in the workplace, and it organises training in this area. These actions, in conjunction with the overall safety policy, enabled the company to continue reducing the accident rate.

Gamesa has standardized systems (compliant with the PHS-1-010 standard and derivatives) and general criteria to guarantee that the health status of company personnel is monitored, establishing actions that make it possible to detect adverse effects of working conditions on health at an early stage, draw conclusions as to people's suitability for particular jobs, determine the need to apply or improve safety and protection measures; and identify workers that are particularly sensitive to certain risks.

Gamesa is the first Spanish company to have AENOR certify its Occupational Health and Safety Management System across its global facilities network, certified to the OHSAS 18001 Standard. The AENOR accreditation includes Gamesa headquarters offices worldwide and the company's more than 30 manufacturing centres in Europe, the United States and Asia.
