ABB secures dry transformers orders for Gamesa wind turbines
ABB and Gamesa, the second wind turbine manufacturer worldwide, have reached an agreement to supply the special dry transformers to be installed inside of the G8X wind turbines.
The orders include different transformers types with a capacity between 2100 to 2500 KVA specially designed for this wind application. Transformers will be sourced along 2007 and 2008 from different ABB Dry transformers factories located in Zaragoza (Spain), Chonan (Korea) , Bland (USA) and Shanghai (China).
Orders will be booked along 2007 and 2008 and will leave ABB as main Gamesa dry transformers supplier for the G8X turbines. Transformers will be delivered to all the Gamesa facilities in Spain and USA to be assembled inside the nacelles.
Gamesa turbines with the ABB transformers, will be installed in different wind farms in Europe, NAM and Asia locations.
ABB had already delivered in the previous years more than 700 of this big transformers type to Gamesa and more than 4000 units of smaller dry transformers for smaller wind turbines.
