Begins construction of the first wind farm developed by Gamesa Energía in China together with Guangdong Nuclear as chinese partner.

  • The agreement with Guangdong Nuclear comprises six projects in Shandong Province equipped with Gamesa G5x 850 kW wind turbines manufactured in China

Madrid, June 17th 2009. Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica and China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Co. Ltd. have reached an agreement for the development of wind projects in Shandong province, located in the northeast of China, totalling 253 MW through the period of 2009-2011. The wind turbine generators will be Gamesa G5x 850kW, manufactured in Gamesa’s production facilities in Tianjin.  

 

The signing of this agreement took place yesterday at the Palace of Viana in Madrid, attended by the President and CEO of Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica, Mr. Guillermo Ulacia and Mr. Chen Sui, President of China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power Co ., Ltd, which is part of the visit to Spain of Chinese authorities.

 

 The first project subject to this agreement is Taipingshan wind farm, with a total capacity of 49.3 MW, which is the first wind farm developed by Gamesa Energía in China and will start construction in June. It will be equipped with 58 Wind Turbine Generators of Gamesa G5x. The supply, delivery and installation will take place during the 4th quarter of 2009.   

 

This agreement strengthens Gamesa’s commitment with China to develop the wind energy sector jointly with leading local utilities.

 CGN has nearly 4,000MW of nuclear power installed capacity at Dayawan Nuclear Station and Lingao Nuclear Station (Phase I), 16,000 MW of nuclear power installed capacity under construction and more than 1,450 MW of wind power installed capacity under construction and partially put into commercial operation.  

 

By the end of December, 2008, CGN has total assets of about RMB 100 billion and net assets of about RMB 35 billion, which is nine times higher than the net assets at the time of CGN establishment (3.24 billion).
