La muela

The transparency about economic, environmental, and social impacts of a company is a fundamental component in effective stakeholder relations, investment decisions, and other market relations. To support this expectation, and to communicate clearly and openly about sustainability, a globally shared framework of concepts, consistent language, and metrics is required.

The Global Reporting Initiative (launched in 1997 as a joint initiative of U.S. non-governmental organisation Coalition for Environmentally Responsible economies (CERES) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Provides a trusted and credible for sustainability reporting, that can be used by organizations of any size, sector or location. For that purpose, the GRI publishes periodically the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The elaboration of a sustainability report using the guide allows the different stakeholders to benchmark and assess sustainability performance of an organisation with respect to laws, norms, codes, performance standards, and voluntary initiatives, as to compare performance within an organization and between different organizations over time.

Gamesa cooperates actively with the Global Reporting Initiative as an Organizational Stakeholder (OS) since 2004.

Since 2003 Gamesa has published annually a sustainability Report, providing a balanced and reasonable representation of its performance in this field. In addition, the report has been recognized under the category In Accordance by the GRI since 2004, distinction to those sustainability reports that include all the requirements and parameters specified in the GRI guide. Finally, in the last two years Gamesa has required to an independent organization (KPMG) to verify the information concerning social and environmental practices contained in the Sustainability Report, following the methodology of the International Standard ISAE 3000 (International Standard on Assurance Engagements 3000).
