This Gamesa Business Unit has the mission of development, construction, and sale of wind farms.
During the course of its trajectory as an Industrial Group dealing in technological and innovative progress, Gamesa has been furthering the development of technologies for energy sustainability, focusing its business especially on the field of wind power.
In addition to its business of manufacturing wind turbines, in 1995 Gamesa initiated its activity as a developer of wind farms, with Windfarms Development and Sales Unit catering for all the tasks related to the development of projects for the generation of electricity from wind.
The first projects developed by Gamesa in Spain date back to 1996 in Aragon (La Plana III wind farm) and to 1997 in Galicia (Coriscada wind farm) and have been followed, without interruption, by others in these same Autonomous Communities, as well as in those of Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucia.
Furthermore, in around 1999, the first projects were initiated on wind power installations in other countries outside Spain, and it was in 2000 that the international development of Gamesa became more firmly consolidated through projects in Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, Germany, United States or China, amongst others.
Nowadays Windfarms Development and Sales Unit has a 21,000 MW portfolio in development throughout Europe, USA and China-Asia
